"Do you want me to take you home?" Gabriel asked as they headed to the pier. He knew how dangerous this city was and he brought her back very late.

His lips twisted, it was hard to agree to, he wanted her to be safe, but he nodded agreeing, "if you insist."

"Deal," he agreed, slipping it into his pocket before leaning in to quickly pack a kiss onto her cheek, "I'll see you around then."

Ana felt something like a jolt when he kissed her cheek but was able to mumble a response before flagging down a cab that was thankfully driving by.

The next day Ana fielded questions about where she had been with ease and spent the morning in her garden, trying to think about plants but actually thinking about him. It was deeply annoying.

In the following days, Gabriel was rather busy, he was normally a very busy man, but it was particularly beneficial in this instance. It was easier getting and keeping her off the mind while he was busy. He didn't wantto look desperate, so even though it was hard, he forced himself to wait three days before finally using the number she have him.
