"How tough are we talking?" she murmured. "Perhaps we will forgo stitches." She pulled out some disinfectant, pads, and a cloth. She wet the cloth and gently cleaned the blood away for a better look. She prepped a pare of tongs to pull the bullets out.

"Very tough, like a bear hide," Camron did his very best to explain what the closest resemblance would be on this planet. He was extremely durable, but could still be harmed, especially in the softer areas, his uniform gave little protection, it was made of a bullet and fire proof cloth but could still only do so much.

"I see." She looked at him with a serious expression that somehow looked wrong on her china doll face. "I'm going to have to get the bullets out. It's going to hurt and I have the feeling anesthesia won't work on you very well."

"No worries, I've lived through worse," He told her, without a shred of fear.

She simple nodded. "Lie down for me then." She picked the tongs up and a glass petrie dish.

Cameron did as she asked and flattened his body out for her.

Veruka tried not to look too closely at him, to remain professional. But she had to admit, at least to herself, that he was the most beautiful person she had ever seen up close. She pushed that away for a moment and got to work. She tried her best to find the bullets quickly and get them out even quicker but it was tricky. Tong bases tend to be bigger than bullet holes so it was a stretch to get them in, feel around for the bullet, grab it and pull it out. She was actually not too bad at it, the plink of the metal hitting the glass petrie dish falling in a steady rhythm until they were all out. The disinfectant, once applied, would sting but she figured a big tough guy like him could handle it. She applied it without saying anything, working quietly, contentedly. Instead of using stitches she glued his skin together, figuring that was the best solution. It worked as well as stitches but without the need for needles, without the pull of thread when you moved, and was a bit faster. Hopefully it worked for someone as active as him. At the end she wiped everything down, and stuck bandages over top. She stepped back and let her breath puff out. "All done," she whispered. She cleaned up the area with the same briskness she had been using the whole time before washing her hands again. She pulled her hair out of her ponytail then ran a hand through it. She had never tried removing bullets before. It was vaguely terrifying work.

He was astounded at how fast and efficient she was. He had a very high tolerance for pain so took it all easily, without complaint or even much of a noise. When she was finished and he realized there were no tricks, he had to ask, "why are you helping me?"

She glanced over at him, and smiled sweetly, before continuing to clean up and avoid meeting his eyes. "You saved my life." She moved her shoulders. "A lot of other lives too. Therefore you can't be all the media says or you wouldn't have bothered. Magazines are mostly garbage anyway."

"That's a refreshing change," He muttered with a shake of his head, too many followers in the world. "You do very good work," He praised.

She smiled at the praise. "Thank you," she said sincerely.

"How so?" she asked, she faced him and leaned her hip on the counter, crossing her arms.

"Well, I'm sure you've never done work on something like me before."

"No," she agreed emphatically. "But then, I don't suppose many people have."
