Veruka trotted up the front steps to Delware College, glancing at the slim watch on her wrist and mumbled unhappily. She was running late. She had had trouble catching a cab. She picked up the pace and managed to slide into a seat just before the professor came sailing in and began talking. She let out a sigh of relief before quickly starting to scribble down notes. The class was on chemistry, how the body reacts to certain drugs and how the drugs interact with each other. She found in deeply interesting, her hand flying across the paper frantically to keep up. In what seemed like no time at all the hour was over and she was cramming her stuff together to run to the next class. But when the door opened she was greeted by screams. But the press of students carried her unwillingly forward, the flow too heavy to move against. Next thing she knew she was being seized roughly and hauled forward. Her head whipped around frantically, pretty dusky red hair swirling through the air. All around, armed thugs with masks were blockading the citadel that made up the central part of the college. Students milled around in terrified huddles all throughout. There were only a handful of teachers and they weren't doing anything useful. The men weren't saying much, just keeping the students from leaving. Every student who could attend this place had rich parents and a swank place. They were all worth a lot of money. Her family especially was very wealthy though it was doubtful they knew that. She had no familial resemblance to her honored father. They were held there for a long time, an hour at least until it seemed like the men were starting to get impatient. They were fidgeting and arguing among themselves. The sound of sirens had come and gone awhile ago, but as of yet the police had done nothing. Veruka sat of the stairs, hand delved into her hair. One knee jiggled uncontrollably. Despite her family name, she was pampered and kept apart from the criminal life so she had never known terror. Fear yes, but not terror. She could hear the police outside. What were they doing? Or rather, why weren't they doing anything? She could hear more vehicles pulling up, they sounded like vans. She caught a glimpse of the word SWAT and felt hopeful. At least, until she saw the agitated movements. Obviously they were feeling nervous now. SWAT came with snipers and who knew when they could take you out, or from where. They didn't even need to be close. One of the men across the citadel yelled something and a man not far behind her looked around. He spotted red hair and strode forward with determination. He snatched the arm of the little doll the hair turned out to belong to and dragged her to her feet. She looked up with fear plain on her face and he smiled under the mask. Veruka stared up at him with something bordering on horror. She was so scared she couldn't even think, couldn't even move. All she could do was stare, frozen.

The criminals were becoming more confident, why was unclear, but there was certainly an uprising building. Sure they weren't afraid to shoot up some small time school in the south, but what money could be earned? It wasn't enough anymore, they were becoming more cocky, and a problem in Gotham,e that should have been crushed years ago was becoming stronger. The allegence of superheroes that worked in the shadows, undercover, trying their hardest to never be noticed, while still keeping an eye on the massive city. They had some help, civilians who hadn't been swayed, but still it wasn't easy. With superhuman a with the ability to see clips into the future, they could forsee what may come, but deciding what to do was not so easy. They had no set leader, the hate for them was still new and their group only recently founded, and growing. With no one person to say exactly which action to take, obviously in these situations the heroes would reduce to bickering trying to get their opinion heard. But, in this case it came down to the fact that it was a school of young people and it needed to be handled fast, with no screw ups, no deaths. By the time SWAT arrived there was also half a dozen reporters that came with them, in a city full of crime news was big, the whole thing was televised from a safe distance outside the college. SWAT tried to maneuver fast when they knew these masked men were not messing around. there were a dozen masked men all covering the main building striding around the hallways making sure there was no one left, all heavily armed. The mAn holding Veruka lifted his firearm and fired several rounds into the ceiling to intimidate the SWAT team, and attempt to get the demands he had made for him and the rest of his team met. 25 million and a fast car to take them to the south side where they could blend in with the other criminals and practically be forgotten, seemed reasonable to them, these folks were so wealthy. He didn't seem to be getting anywhere, since he had gotten no response. So he meant to make true on his word and turned his gun on the young Veruka.

She had flinched away sharply when he fired warning shots into the beautiful plaster ceiling. When he turned the gun on her she squeezed her eyes shut so tightly some tears leaked out. A whimper escaped her lips before she could prevent it and her cheeks colored with shame and fear. She didn't want to die yet and to top it off her arm was losing all sense of feeling he was squeezing it so tight.

He was going to do it,fire the ending shot, when the ceiling above broke through, the opening was only as big as the body that came through. A familiar figure came through crashing right into the thug, while doing zero harm to the girl. With the man and the gun crumpled at his feet, the hero turned his gaze on those who remained they cursed violently, one started radioing for the remaining men, but before they could do so, he was on the move. The hero moved fast, he was upon the next in a matter of moments and he was out and onto the next. As they began to panic they drew their weapons and fired upon the hero. At first it seemed to do nothing, or at least he didn't react. They tried to shoot some of the hostages but by now they were scrambling and far tougher targets and the only got off a few shots before being knocked out by the brute superhero in the blue suit and red cape, he wore no mask, rare for superheroes,.

Veruka's eyes flew open surprise when she felt herself falling instead of hearing shots fired. She looked around frantically trying to figure out what had happened. She saw a blue and red blur, as well as the masked men falling. She pushed up with one arm to lift her upper body off the ground so she could see better.

"Everybody evacuate," the hero instructed, once he was sure he had things under control, though he was fairly sure one bullet had found a mark in his side, he was touch but not made of diamonds and had his soft spots. He could easily ignore it, pain was pain, it wasn't fatal for him, definitely did not feel good and he had blood pouring from the wound. It was funny they claimed to hate said hero but when he told them what to do they listened. The SWAt team were confused, but the instantly started toward the building ushering people out trying to get a good look inside, while Cameron, the hero, knocked out the remaining masked thugs in the main room, making sure no one got harmed,

She got onto her hand and knees slowly before straightening. Although even her full height was unimpressive. She stared closely at the hero and squinted for more clarity. Maybe it was her imagination but she looked to be favoring his side.

As his gaze spun around, he could see clearly that the college was nearly empty, except for, it seemed, with one dazed girl looking at him. Camrons sharp here could hear the footsteps of the remaining men as they were on the move, his way. He met gazes with the young red headed girl, "you too, you need to leave, now," there was a sense of urgency to his deep voice, he didn't know why she stared, just needed her safe.

Veruka started a little when he spoke to her, skin shivering. Then his words processed through her brain. She felt positively stupid, like she was thinking and moving through molasses. She just nodded. "Right, of course." Her own voice was surprisingly deep for someone who looked like her. With doll-like features and her tiny stature a higher pitched voice would seem more likely. Instead her own voice was somewhat deeper and infinitely soothing. She looked around before following the direction she had noticed the other students taken previously. She paused and looked back quickly. "Try to be careful." After blurting that out she ducked out of the citadel. Police were right there, catching her and helping her out, asking her questions. She let herself be swept along, trying to catch her brain up. She knew the symptoms of shock, the cold hands and shaking. Why they happened, how long they would last. But when they tried to shew her off the scene completely she shook them off. "I just want to wait."

It was strange, why had she told him to be careful? He hadn't heard such words of sympathy from a civilian for years, it was turning and in some way a little comforting, he felt a little less alone. Feeling that everyone hated you was so depressing, just those simple words left a charge in Camron, these men stood no chance. He had them out quickly, one of Camrons major things was that no one could die, not the good not the bad. So once he had them all knocked out and drueling he tied them all together with an extension cord around their waists and left out the same door the students did, no need to dramatically fly off and destroy anymore of the school, he knew how much the people hated that. As he stepped out a hush fell over the people as they all stared blatantly.

Veruka stared too, but her expression was quite different. While everyone else's gaze was wary, suspicious, unfriendly. Her's was curious, and speculative. She glanced around quickly and saw everyone else's face. She had the distinct feeling that the hero wouldn't be getting any thanks from anyone here. At least, not anyone else. She looked back at him, huge sea foam green eyes wide. She looked him over, carefully. He still looked like he was favoring that one side. Had he been shot, by chance? Bullets had been flying for a bit there, some of the students had been shot too.

Against his dark suit, the blood wasn't noticeable, but when he placed his hand against his side, the blood was clear upon his palm. "They guys you want are in there," he directed the stunned SWAT team as they moved into the college, while some stayed behind and even turned their weapons against the superhero. "Don't let him leave," the crowd suddenly erupted shouting things like get him and criminal. Some even began to throw things, garbage, water bottles, whatever they could. Camron wasn't too surprised, he was well hated by the public, he knew this. "On your knees, hands in the air or I will shoot," the closest SWAT men commanded, Camron twisted his lips trying to decide what his next move would be. With his injury, taking flight would not be easy, like a bird with clipped wings.

Veruka burst into action. She was at his side before she even realized it. "This man just saved my life and he's injured. What the hell are you thinking?" she demanded, her shock cleared away. She was maybe five feet tall but she stared them down, eyebrows sinking into a frown. They didn't know what to do. They wanted to arrest him but they also knew exactly who she was and as a matter of fact her father had a lot of these men in his pockets. If nothing else, her name was enough. They milled around for a second but the garbage stopped and the call for arrest died. With the police her name was very important. With the students and teachers, she was a favorite.

Camron knew it was the same girl her red hair made her very recognizable but what in gods name was she doing? After he saved her she comes between him and the gun? He was stunned he didn't imagine the SWAT team only interested in bringing them in were going to listen to a college student. But they did their weapons lowered out of safety, "were sorry miss," the first one spoke up studderjn only a little with the words he chose. "You know the rules." Camron didn't wait a moment further he bolted down the steps of the college he couldn't reach max speed but was still above average speed he darted around the public as they attempted to get in his way, but his might was too great to be blocked. He turned a sharp corner and was gone, some people tried to chase after him but the SWAT team let him go they had enough to deal with here.

She nodded at the guy. She did know they had rules. A burst of movement sucked air in beside her and she swayed a little. She was just able to follow the blur. She thanked the men around her before casually strolling away. She followed the hero's path figuring he'd be long gone by now if he could move that fast. If nothing else she could walk for a bit then catch a cab home. She had a feeling the school would be closed for awhile. She turned the corner, tucking her hands into her jean pockets, head swiveling as she looked around.
