Quinn walked down the streets of the Projects, heading for home. Rundown buildings with cracking plaster or dirty brick squared her in with black gaps that indicated back alleys slicing though the buildings every couple blocks. There were streetlamps but a lot of them didn't work, others flickered, delivery patchily uneven light coverage. Junky cars drove down the streets playing loud booming music with guys hanging out the windows hooting and hollering. Men loitered on doorsteps or in front of liquor and convenience stores. Pedestrians tended to walk with the quick, face down shuffle of those beaten down after working three jobs that day, the wide-legged swagger of thugs, of the striding, busy steps of people who wanted to look like they had places to go and that they could handle any interruptions. Quinn's stride belonged to the latter category. In baggy jeans that sagged off her hips, held in place with a shoelace belt, she covered the ground in long sidewalk-eating strides. The hood of her equally baggy hoody was pulled up to cover her hair and shadow her face, with was turned partially down. There was zero hip swishing to her walk; she walked like a boy so as not to attract any unwanted attention. She kept one hand tucked into her pocket, like she might have something in there, while the other swung easily at her side. One earbud was in her ear, softly playing music, while the other hung over the edge of her collar. It wasn't a good idea to leave any sense unaware in this part of town where muggings, beatings, rape, and murder all ran rampant. Quinn had so far, in her short 19 years, managed to display enough edge to be left alone, but not so much as to be a threat or a challenge. It was a fine line and one she had perfected ages ago. Because in the Projects there were only three kinds of women: hard working exhausted women who were just struggling to pay their bills, whores, and bitches. You didn't want to be part of the latter two groups, unless you could take care of yourself. On the off chance something untoward happened, Quinn had a wicked curved blade hooked onto her back pocket that she was good at drawing and sort of knew how to use, and a small portable close range tazer in the other pocket. Just in case. So far she had only had to use them a couple times and they had done the trick. Reaching the front of the building she lived in, she slipped in the front door, taking the staircase to the left to head up to the upper floors of the run down apartment building. She reached her room and, key already ready in her hand, unlocked the door. Slipping inside quickly she relocked the door behind her immediately. The lock made her feel secure even though it was really a measly form of protection. The doors around here were so flimsy it would take much effort to kick them down. But at least it prevented any but someone actually determined to enter this room at bay. Once home she sighed with relief, like she did every time she made it home, and stripped off the hoody, pulling it over her head and dumped it in the basket by the door. Now in just the baggy jeans, barefoot, with a white tank on she paused. She lifted her head, suddenly wary. Something felt off. Shaking back hair so dark brown it appeared black, she tucked both hands into her back pockets and eased forward, feet soundless on the floor. Ignoring the crying baby she could faintly hear through the walls she strained for any noise, any sign of what had put her back up and made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

There was a common atribute that came from having odd abilities, being a loner. It just made existing more easy. Sure, having allies and people you can trust is a good idea, but spend too much time with someone and it will get noticed. Having someone you love, used against you in some situation, is the lowest of the low. Johnny vicious didn't deal with these issues, he wasn't close with anyone, had zero emotional connections. It took effort, at least it use to, but he didn't do girlfriends anymore, didn't know the wellbeing of anyone in his family, only looked after himself. He could certainly hold his own, he was dangerous, armed with long sharp blades that protruded in trios from both fists. He didn't look like someone to mess with, certainly rough on the eyes and the ears with his deep rumbling somewhat emotionless voice. He had no mercy, and could hold a grudge like it was no ones business. He didn't try to get into trouble, it just always seemed to find him and johnny took shit from no one, nothing. So when he got put into the max security prison outside of town on a tip, it enticed his vengeful side. After days of torment and torture and testing in the state of the art facility for people like him, johnny had had enough. His escape hadn't been planned, it was eradict, Tasmanian like, but he broke free. With half the city looking for him and in a bright yellow jumpsuit that was unmissable. Johnny kept low and went to the only place he knew he would be safe. He went in through a window in the attic, and quietly down the stairs.

Quinn didn't find anything though the back of her neck still tingled. She pulled her hair out of it's tight bun with relief at the cessation of scalp pain. With a huff she stripped off the baggy pants too before making her way to the fridge, finally comfortable in female boxers, her tank, and loose hair. She paused when she saw the picture on the fridge, the way she did every time she saw it. Worry crossed her dark face. The picture clearly showed a smiling image of herself hugging a handsome, laughing blonde man in a comfortable way. No one would guess it by looking at them but the man was actually her half-brother Jared. This was his place. She had moved in with him a couple of months ago, after they found each other and he found out where she had been living before. She loved him desperately and he was missing. He hadn't come home one night. The police had turned up nothing, she had no idea where he'd gone and she was terrified he'd been murdered or something although he was so charming everyone liked him. Everyone. It had been a week and a half now. She touched the picture with soft fingers, biting her lip hard. She thought she heard a sound behind her and half turned her head to listen.

Jared was a nerd, a hacker a genius. He could do almost anything with a computer and his talents were well known but he refused to use it for bad. He was one of the only people Johnny got along with it was just the way Jared was. So when johnnys gaze set upon the back of a girl he arched a brow confused. "Who are you? Where's Jared?" He stepped into the kitchen.

Quinn swung the rest of the way around, dark eyes wide. "Who am I?" she shot back. "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in here?" Her eyes swung quickly to her jeans, hanging over the back of a chair. Her knife was in there, her tazer too. She stared back at the stranger. She noticed right away his edgy look, the way he seemed to radiate danger. She evaluated him quickly, head to toe with wary eyes and inwardly grimaced. Not a very nice situation. He was a mean, hard looking man and he wanted her brother. That couldn't mean anything good.

He tried very hard not to notice how attractive she was and the fact that she was bared in underwear. His brow furrowed deeply as he examined this situation he didn't see anyway she could harm him but you could never be certain. "I am looking for Jared, I need his help, where is he?" He wasn't afraid to make demands as he took further steps toward her she wouldn't be making any sudden moves.

Quinn's head tilted back as he came closer but her feet stayed planted. "I don't know what you're talking about." she lied. If he was looking for Jared she sure wouldn't be the one to point such a dangerous man on her brother's trail. At least, not until she could warn him. Or find him.

"You better give me answers, I don't want to hurt you, you must know him or you wouldn't be in this house." Johnny threatened insistently.

"Maybe he moved," she shot back, chin jutting out stubbornly. She looked him over again, slower, more careful. Something about the guy was vaguely familiar, like maybe Jared had mentioned him once. "How do you know him anyway?"

He arched a brow at her sudden question, there was no way he had gotten the wrong address. It was also unlikely that Jarod would have moved he was very fond of this particular home, it was in a location that was hard to detect if you didn't know where you were going. "We're buddies, I guess," Johnny told her he didn't know how else to explain.

"It's a complicated situation, I've helped him out a few times, he's helped me a few times."

Her face cleared suddenly. "You're... Johnny?" she asked slowly.

He nodded, "that's right you've heard of me then?"

She nodded. "Ya. Jared mentioned you a couple times. Said I could trust you. Although he also said you was in prison..."
