Gus's Gas was a dumpy place, run down and dingy. However, it was one of the only gas stations on the south side. Sarra made regular stops there on the way home from work. Dusk was falling as she propped herself against the back bumper of her car, hand on the gas pump as she watched the meter tick up. The fluorescent lights lit up her lavender hair light a halo. She was a skinny girl, not much meat on her bones, not very strong looking either. Not a great idea on the south side. She had a knife in her back pocket but it was actually just to open boxes at work. She also knew how to throw a mean left cross. She didn't usually use that either. Her car was nothing special, an older vehicle with the requisite dings and scratches but it did run reliably which was always an asset here. She noticed the man in the hoodie, hood up, slouching in her direction and eyed him warily. She had grown up in this part of town, lived and worked here her whole life. She knew how the game worked. She clutched her car keys in her hand. "You got any money?" he asked, voice rough from smoking. "Uhm, no not really. I have like five bucks." He held out her hand, pulling a knife out with the other. Without hesitation, she frantically dug out her wallet and passed over the five dollar bill. He took it, stared at it for a second. Sarra released the gas pump and started edging away, prepped just to run. "You might as well pass over the keys too." This was not the first time she'd been in this kind of situation. Unfortunately, she seemed deeply prone to accidents.

Dante was almost always on the prowl looking for trouble, whatever it may be. He rode an impossibly quiet black motorcycle, rigged up with a police radio, Dante was always listening. He was proud of looking out for the individual, and he always worked solo. The brief period he did join the justice legion he found he butted heads with their leader Ana as well as several of the other more formal heroes. Dante believed he was better off alone anyway, no one else to worry about but himself. Simple. On the way home from 12 hours of devoted service Dante turned to the shitty gas station that was down the street from his destination. There was only one car parked at a stand, a shitty old beat up ride to match the gas station. Next he noticed the lavender hair attached to the pretty girl and lastly, the bum. He didn't need much of an explanation. They were quite preoccupied and didn't expect or hear him close in on his silent motorcycle. "Hey, buddy, be clever, put the knife away and step away from the lady before I make you more ugly, yeah?" He warned as he got off his bike set to make good on his word.

Sarra glanced over at the sound of a deep male voice, prepared to insist everything was fine and did a quick double take before returning her gaze to the knife where it should be. The bum seemed disinterested in following that advice, instead sneering that Dante should move along, it was none of his business. Sarra kept quiet but she didn't want the guy putting himself at risk.

Despite the threats that the crack head spewed, Dante was fearless. He could tell in the mans voice that he had been thrown off by this unexpected turn of events. As the bum turned and held his knife between his body and Dantes, Dante began to laugh,"are you hard of hearing?" As the knife was struck out, Dante stepped aside so the blade missed he struck the knife wielding hand and it fell to the floor. Then Dante grabbed the mugger by the wrist and the back, twisted and had him up against the side of her car all in a matter of moments. The audible crack in the back was a clear indicate of the pain that had been administered. Dante may not have been the most powerful guy from those that he was like, but he had great knowledge of hand to hand combat and didn't need to use his powers and disguise himself to deal with this joke. Sarra jumped at the noise made by the addict's body smashing against her car and watched the whole exchange from wide eyes. Her expression was also vaguely impressed. She had taken a self defense class for obvious reasons but she wouldn't be strong enough to just pick someone up and slam them against a car. And she wouldn't look so good doing it. She thought it kind of silly that she was noticing his biceps and the way his back flexed while in the middle of an attack.

Dante held the man fiercely against the side of the car, he meant business. The bum groaned with pain and couldn't think from shock. "Apologize and I won't dislocate your shoulder," he said in almost a happy tone. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry," the bum squealed realizing he had no chances true to his word, Dante let the guy go.

Sarra watched the guy run off then casually tucked her hands into the front pockets of her cutoffs. She wasn't fazed by attacks like that. Any more. "Hi." she said, looking at her rescuer with interest.

Dantes eyes trailed after the creep until he was definitely gone. "Hi," he greeted back, "you alright?" He asked to be sure. Dante was a little rough looking, he suited his bike yet also looked like a charming gentleman. Dressed in jeans and a worn black shirt. His hair was dirty blonde dread locks and he had a fair bit of scruff on his chin. It was his eyes that stood out the most being piercing blue.

The wispy girl ran fingers through soft purple hair, expression considering. "Yes I do believe I'm just fine." A charming, sweet smile crossed her face, crinkling the dusting of freckles she had across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose and warming up hazelnut brown eyes. "Thanks to you." She took a step forwards with one leg, body rotating to the side as she stuck out a hand to shake, "I'm Sarra."

He held out one of his own hands as well and shook, "I'm Dante, happy to help, people like that need to be put in their place."

"Everyone deserves a little luck every once and a while," he told her with a flash of his white teeth in a smile.

Her lips half crooked in response and she enjoyed the little flutter of butterfly wings in her tummy. He had a sexy smile and she was obviously susceptible to his bad boy, rugged look.

He couldn't explain it but he felt a curious interest toward her. He got the impression she was use to misfortune in her life, just the type he liked to defend. "Well, enjoy the rest of your night, try and stay safe," he suggested as he headed back toward his bike.

She just waved, watching him walk away for a second before getting in her car and heading off. As she was walking into her home she realized she should have asked for his number. Too late now.
