"We have evidence that says otherwise, you aren't going to get the heat for this, we just want the names of your associates," Angel went on.

At this Isalena laughed. "That's absurd. The only way I don't get heat for this is if you don't have any evidence. In that case you're trying to scare a confession out of me which won't work because I simply don't know anything."

Angel considered a moment leaning back in his chair his gaze running over her. It was too much to believe such déjà vu it took him right back.

Isalena watched him watch her and felt her skin tingle all the way from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. She finally looked away from his face, glancing at his hands and froze, locked on the wedding band on his finger. "You got married," she said numbly.

Angel knew that he was being watched he didn't want them knowing that he had already known her and well. He cleared his throat and nodded at her question, feeling the band with his surrounding fingers.

Her finger tapped at the table. "Lucky girl." She looked at the wall and took a quick breath. "I think you gentlemen owe me a phone call and if you're serious about this line of questioning I'd like my lawyer."

She was right, he couldn't argue that. Angel nodded, "Alright we will get that arranged." It was so damn difficult to keep it composed but he rose and left.

Isalena kept her face stoic when he was gone but she suddenly felt so weary. Of all of the things she had expected, this hadn't been one of them. She had expected to have a little fun at the police station and then go home and get about her day. Instead she felt like she'd been ripped open. She remembered Angel, all right. She had known him when she was younger, and as she had only just started getting into the criminal life. He was a prized underground fighter, she sold low level drugs on the side. She had loved him. A lot. Had in fact she would spend her life with him. And then things happened and that plan had been flushed down the toilet. She hadn't loved anyone since. Couldn't afford to love him, truthfully. Love was a weakness in her game. Isalena waited for the phone call, breathing in and out slowly, eyes focused on the wall pointedly.

They got her a phone and her lawyer, but Angel never came back. It wasn't right for him to interrogate her. None of the other officers argued it, everyone knew the pain and shit he had gone through it was still like stepping on egg shells. Her representation was good and she was allowed to leave before the end of the day.

Isalena slung her jacket over her shoulder and walked out with her lawyer. She just barely avoided looking around for him. She had her pride and if he was married then she didn't want to lose what little she might still have.

Angel stopped at the cafe just beyond the department, he was never in a hurry to get home anymore. He sat alone at a table for two as far away from the others as possible. His nose was stuck in a book when they drifted away and noticed her as she left.

When they met gazes she sent him that same feeling he had gotten from her so many years ago, no other woman had ever done that for him. He knew it was a bad idea, knew what she was all about, but he sent a little wave.

Perfect cupids bow lips curved upwards. "Excuse me," she said to her lawyer, who nodded and walked to his car. She stepped into the coffee shop, ignoring the admiring looks she got from the male patrons. She walked over to his table and sat down across from him. "Hello again."

"You got out fast," he commented turning his bright blue eyes on her.
